Speaker’s Profile & Event Description
Mr. Prabhat is a career diplomat who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1996. His first overseas assignment took him to the Indian Embassy, Moscow (1998-99).  He was part of the first team in Yerevan which established the resident Indian Mission in Armenia (1999—2002). Thereafter, having worked for 2 years at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi he was moved to Washington DC (2004-2008) to assist the Ambassador of India engaged in work related to signing of the landmark Indo-US civil nuclear agreement. Subsequent assignments took him back to Moscow (2008-2011) as Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre run by ICCR, India’s premier cultural diplomacy body. ‘Year of India in Russia’ (2009) celebrations was a major highlight during Prabhat’s sojourn in Russia.

Back in New Delhi (2011-2013) he served as Director of the Finance Division responsible for preparation and monitoring of budgets of the Ministries of External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs. 2013-2015: Prabhat was Consul General of India in Milan looking after India’s trade and commercial interests and consular affairs of 125,000 strong Indian community resident in northern Italy.

Manish Prabhat was educated in Patna and New Delhi. He holds a Master’s degree in History from Delhi University. Prabhat and his family (wife: Ruchi Narain and two children) are in Paris since September 2015.
