Philippe Advani is currently Vice-President Global Sourcing Network at EADS & AIRBUS based in Paris, Munich and Toulouse. Philippe has held senior executive positions in Sourcing and International Affairs in various countries such as Managing Director of EADS India, based in New-Delhi and as General Representative for China of Alcatel SEL based in Beijing. He holds an MBA from INSEAD, an engineering degree from Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité and a degree in Chinese language and civilization from Ecole des Langues Orientales in Paris.
EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company), rebranded itself as Airbus Group at the beginning of this year, was created by the merger of Aérospatiale-Matra (France), Daimler-Chrysler Aerospace AG (Germany) and Constructionnes Aeronauticas SA (Spain). Leaders in their domain, they decided to go beyond borders giving birth to a Group strong enough to compete with giants like Boeing et al. IPA member Philippe in his talk will scan the history of the Group originating from national champions to become global leader with focus on its current strategic priorities. The discussion could help probe the validity of national borders in a globalized world.
