As we prepare for our final luncheon before the summer break, the IPA invites you to a light-hearted yet insightful gathering focused on one of the most delightful gifts of our shared culture: humour. Our members are our values speakers at this luncheon.

Drawing inspiration from the Sanskrit adage “hasyaṁ vinā puruṣo mṛtaḥ” — “Without humour, a man is as good as dead” — this event reflects on the power of wit to elevate the human spirit, especially in uncertain times. Humour, in its many regional avatars across India, often hides in plain sight—nestled in idioms, misunderstood “bolis,” or hilariously misplaced “galis.”

Whether it’s a Tamil pun that leaves a Marathi friend puzzled or a Gujarati saying that earns a raised eyebrow in Bengal, India’s linguistic diversity has gifted us a treasure trove of funny, confusing, and occasionally lost-in-translation moments.

IPA’s true strength lies in our pan-Indian character, and we intend to celebrate that, with laughter as our unifying thread.

Let’s come together to reflect, share a laugh, and close this IPA season in good spirits and great company.
